Saturday evening an interesting match hit the television in the Netherlands, PSV from Eindhoven had to show their abilities against the surprising team SC Heerenveen. After watching the game for just 1 minute, I whooped of my chair, cheering like the craziest guy on earth, since a goal was scored.
Later on the game became boring and I decided to take my chances and turn on my laptop, as intelligent as I am I sat behind the TV (1+1=2!).

After wandering around on our website and checking out all our players from varying games, my mind stuck to Bbreak17.
With a equal intensity and acuity of his gaming powers in FIFA, which are more than adequate, he caught my interest.
Bbreak17 is being the only gamer in the Indian history who has ever won, respectively, a medal in gaming. He did this at the WCG Asian Games 2007, where he achieved the second place. Something might pop into mind right now. India has been known as a country whose infrastructure was behind the European one. This made countries look upon India, and problems with the infrastructure and economy were always forecast to accumulate.

In case you view the same situation from a gaming perspective, this is not the situation for our Indian player Bbreak17, who has settled in Mumbai. Being the guy who looks upon all the others in the FIFA series, where no one ever interferes him in his way to the goal, his way to the goal in FIFA and his personal goal which he intends to reach with FIFA, is more reachable than ever: Being better than the rest.

Indian gaming is probably something which is, when viewed by both the European and American gaming industry, a little peanut in comparison with an elephant. Though, the gaming business is reaching a height it has never reached before in India, and therefore the computer, together with the internet or games, are considered as gentle hosts for the youth of India. A abundance of computer games is yet to come once the gaming products from India keep rising as they do today.

We have caught up with Bbreak to talk with him about various things related to him and to his success' in gaming.

Bbreak himself.
Identity card
Real name: Reuben Pereira
Location: Mumbai, India
Date of birth: 26/03/90
Sex: Male
Marital status: Single
Favourite game: Fifa series
Favourite music: House/ Hip Hop
Favourite website: www.orkut.com
Favourite food: Indian/Chinese

Reuben is the rather ordinary guy. He does not pretend to be better than he actually is, which makes his personality strong. Being a gamer on top level takes time, in fact, a lot of time. LANs have to be attended in order to continue his courageous games. He examines his enemies like a hunter would do, tactical steps are taken each match; the gamer which suits to all our likings is here.

Because of being in the 2nd year of his college, school priorities take away quite some time from the young man. Though, this does not influence anything related to gaming since he remains in the same rhythm as he has always been in. Next to this Reuben enjoys to hang out and therefore enjoy his time with friends, the stereotype thing nearly everyone does. To evaluate this even more, he claims that “Nightlife is the best for this moment”.

Next to that, he also enjoys to play football with friends, we actually wouldn’t have thought anything more likely than this. Whether he is able to perform the tricks which are in FIFA, remains a secret for many of us.

Gaming may have different meanings for people all over the world. This is mainly due to the fact that the one is just gaming in order to have fun, the other does it to build up a small career out of which he is able to make a living during the teenage years.

It took some time for Bbreak to discover what he actually sought behind it. After his first international victory which came as a surprise in anyone’s eyes, gaming was taken more seriously. At the same time he figured that it might bring you big rewards, and his encouragement eventuated in various victories.

His eagerness to be a representative for H2k, next to the Indian community, on international top level, asides other big players, makes him more motivated than ever. At the same time he seeks his way out from studies and anything related to school. Representing your own country is what he describes as: “The best feeling you can ever get!”.

This feeling is of course an incredible honour to have it, but the fact that Bbreak is sponsored by the Indian gaming portal Indiagames Ltd. www.indiagames.com makes him even happier. The opportunity that is in front of Rueben is incredible and his gaming carreer is extraordinary succesfull.

Owning a medal

As mentioned before in this article, Bbreak is the only Indian who owns a medal which he won in gaming. This has brought a lot of press with itself.. Family, friends and even various fans of Bbreak had messaged him after the star player returned from WCG Asian Championship 2007, delighted and exalted.

Press release: “Mumbai August 7th 2007 – Reuben Pereira of Mumbai has etched his name in the annals of the gaming world as the first Indian to win a medal in an international e-sporting tournament. He was the silver medallist in the FIFA game finals of the WCG Asian Championships held on 5th August 2007 in Singapore.”

The press spoke beloved about Reuben and gaming in India was expected to evolve ever since, and a big blast blowing the gaming industry forward in India would suit to any Indian gamer.

Mr. Vishal Gondal – CEO, Indiagames said:
“having seen the Indian gaming industry from the very genesis, it’s quite an achievement for an Indian to win a medal in an international tournament. I certainly think that it was only a mater of time that Indian gamers start to excel in international e-sports. I’m proud that it’s a Mumbai boy who won the 1st ever medal. I’ve seen Reuben play from a long time, but since the last 6 months he has evolved from an amateur to Pro. He has the aptitude and attitude to be a world class gamer. We are glad that GoD is slowly achieving another of its long term purposes - viz., a platform and a habitat for budding gamers to play, practice and WIN!!”

Communities in India!?

Bbreak is a Games on Demand ambassador of the indiagames.com website, which is having respectively a lot members. The website focuses on the Indian gamers and it motivates them to reach something with gaming – fun is on the first place and the slow evolving community aims for the retrieving of new gamers to give them the opportunity to produce a decent skill level and represent India at international gaming events.

Bbreak his view on the Indian gaming scene can be described as optimistic. Communities are duelling for more pageviews and competitive games are improving continuously. The only thing that the community is actually lacking nowadays in Bbreak’s eyes, is the part which involves sponsors and their sponsorships to gaming. Next to this, companies have decided to start weekly gaming competitions, which is considered a big boost for the Indian gaming industry.

Mentalities

The talent has stated on many websites that once he concedes a goal, he puts his head down. This is claimed to not to be related to any religious beliefs. Having a mentality which rises above anyone else’s, does the thing. Without mentality, the search for motivational issues is a long journey.

By having various fans and family members that support Reuben on his way to the real top, motivation is a thing that is well known and commonly seen on the highest level as possible.

Bbreak describes mentality in other words, as an essential aspect of gaming. “If you think positive u know u can achieve what u are here for… Even if its the best player in the world, being positive will help you overcome your nerves.” When playing a match, music is said to be an good part of relaxation.
